Pre & Post Care Instructions for Waxing Treatments

 Pre Care 

  • Stop use of any scrubs, Retin-A, retinols, take home microdermabrasion, glycolic or any other peels, exfoliants, or tanning products at least 72 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Accutane use must be discontinued for a minimum of 6-12 months.

  • For bikini or Brazilian waxes, it may be advised to postpone if you are on your menstrual period due to increased sensitivity and irritation.

  • If you experience cold sores / Herpes outbreaks in the area to be waxed, it may be advised to begin taking an antiviral medication one day prior to treatment.

 Post Care 

  • Avoid peels, tanning, wet room services, swimming pools, spas, hot tubs, and saunas for 72 hours after your waxing service.

  • Avoid excessive heat or sweating for 72 hours after your service to prevent irritation and potential breakouts.

  • If you do experience a post-wax breakout, use an anti-acne product recommended by your esthetician until they subside.

  • Avoid applying highly fragranced products to the waxed area. This includes perfumes, scented body lotions, antiperspirants, cosmetics, or feminine hygiene sprays.

  • If you received an underarm wax, avoid applying any antiperspirants or deodorants for 24 hours.

  • Avoid using harsh abrasives or exfoliants in the waxed area, however, if you are prone to or experience a post-wax breakout, the esthetician may recommend an exfoliant that is acceptable to use.

  • Apply sunscreen to the area daily, and reapply every two hours.

  • Avoid using highly active ingredients such as glycolic acid for at least 72 hours.

  • Possible side effects of waxing include but are not limited to redness, swelling, and breakouts, however these are temporary and usually fade within 72 hours.
